MediaTek posts over 30% sales drop in January
Fabless IC firm MediaTek has announced consolidated revenues of NT$5.16 billion (US$174 million) for January 2012, down 30.9% on month and 31.5% on year. The figure also hit the lowest monthly level since February 2011.

China polysilicon firm reportedly files for bankruptcy
The rapid price drop of polysilicon has caused close to 80% of polysilicon firms in China to halt production. As the rebound of polysilicon pricing has been weak, a China-based polysilicon firm is rumored to have filed for bankruptcy.
