How To Get Started In Wholesale Resale
There is a big change in the job force today. More and more people are either losing their jobs in corporate America, or are getting fed up with their 9-to-5 job and are leaving the workforce. Many of these people are starting their own businesses and are working from home. If you desire to be your own boss, work your own hours, and work from home, but don't know what to do or where to start, you could start by selling wholesale items online. A whole cottage industry of sorts has cropped-up with people in the wholesale resale market. They buy items from a wholesale distributor and then turn around and resell them online for a nice profit. The wholesale suppliers offer everything from the latest Microsoft Xbox, to designer clothes, purses, and pocketbooks, to home electronics, to pet supplies. Find a hot product, buy it wholesale and offer it for resale online.
Online Auctions Are a Good Place to Start Probably the most famous and well-known online auction website is eBay. You can buy almost anything on eBay. When eBay first started, it was mostly used by people to sell used items they no longer wanted. But more and more people started listing new items and today, a vast majority of items on eBay are new items at discounted prices. If you want to work from home, you may want to start by purchasing items from a wholesale supplier and offering them for resale on eBay. Simply signup with a wholesale supplier (more on that below), buy some items, and list them for sale. When the items sell, collect your payment and ship the items to your customers. It's a great way to make money and you can work from home and work whatever hours you want!
Online Storefronts Offer Added Benefits Another way to sell online is by opening a "storefront" on one of the reseller sites. You can do this on eBay by opening an eBay store. But you can also open a store on Yahoo and Amazon. Check the fees on all these services and compare your listing fees and selling fees before you decide on one service or the other. Or, if your business is doing well, there are no rules saying you can't have a storefront on all these sites! With a storefront, you list items for sale and they stay listed until someone buys the item or you no longer offer the item for sale. If you have a lot of items to sell, it may actually be less expensive to list these items on a website store than an online auction.
How to Find a Wholesale Supplier for Resale You can find wholesalers in many places like in search results or even by buying a list from eBay. But we prefer the paid-membership sites. These sites typically have better listings of wholesale suppliers and these lists are usually more up-to-date. Sure, you can buy a list of 10,000 wholesale suppliers on eBay (and I have!) but much of the information was useless. It was disorganized and out of date. Many suppliers lacked phone numbers, many phone numbers had been disconnected, and many suppliers on the list were either out of business or didn't deal with the small reseller. The membership websites find current wholesale suppliers that will work with the small reseller and individual buyers and they keep the lists current. These sites also have a staff that are available via email and phone to help you get started buying wholesale for resale. They will have people on staffs who personally know some of the suppliers and they will work with you to make your online venture a success. Another valuable asset is the online forum that these sites have. In the forums, other entrepreneurs share their experiences with selling wholesale items online. They can help you getting started, offer advice on pricing and shipping, and will also provide insights into specific wholesale suppliers. They will share their experiences in a candid and honest way. This advice is worth more than anything! Imagine if you paid to go to a business seminar! You'd pay hundreds of dollars to attend a seminar and would probably get very little valuable information. With these websites, you'll typically pay less than a hundred dollars for a lifetime membership! With that comes the tech support, supplier lists, and help from other people who have been through (or are going through) the same circumstances that you are. It is a winning solution and we highly recommend it!
