Unbiased Wholesale Reviews

If you want to start a home business and want to be your own boss, you could start an online retail business selling popular items. Many people are currently selling all types of merchandise online. Popular items right now are the Microsoft Xbox, designer handbags and clothes, shoes, sunglasses, and pet items. You can find these items on many online stores and on online auction sites like eBay. In order to get started selling items online, you will first need to find a wholesale supplier to provide you will items to sell. This may at first seem intimidating. After all, how do you know who to trust as your wholesale supplier? What you need to do first is to read some unbiased wholesale reviews from other resellers like yourself.

One place you can find reviews about wholesale suppliers is by talking to other retailers and resellers selling the same type of items that you wish to sell. If you wish to sell designer handbags and clothing, stop by a small clothing boutique and talk to the manager about their wholesale supplier. Ask them the name of the supplier and how happy they are with their service. Find out how they handle shipping, and more importantly, how they handle returns. Some wholesalers will not take any returns except for physical damage, others will charge a restocking fee for returns. Ask how hard it is to get credit, if they take credit cards for payments, and if they have a dedicated sales person or are just assigned to the general pool of sales reps. Once you have a feeling about the wholesale supplier, you should call and try to verify the information they just gave you.

However, I feel the best place to find other people's reviews about wholesalers are through forums. There are some free forums where people can post their opinions about the entire reselling experience. Then there are the membership sites where you pay a fee to join. This fee is well worth the cost since you will get private conversations with other people in your same situation. These sites will also have a tech support number where you can call and talk to someone who has dealt with many of the wholesale suppliers that they list. You can ask them for candid and honest wholesale reviews. These people at these types of sites want you to succeed at being a reseller so they will steer you in the right direction when it comes to selecting a wholesale supplier.

Let’s look at an example. I want to sell the Microsoft Xbox online and I have found 2 suppliers willing to sell me the Xbox at wholesale prices in the quantity I desire. However, when reviewing the individual company's policies I notice the following differences:

                         Company A            Company B
Return Period        7 days                30 days
Shipping Fee        $10.00/unit            Free
Payment Method    Credit Card            Check or Wire
Phone Support        Toll Free            Toll Call

So, when reviewing both of these wholesale companies, I notice some stark differences. Company B looks like a winner since they offer a 30 day return period and free shipping. However, since they only accept checks or bank wire transfers, it will take at least a week to ship it or I will have to pay the bank $25 for a wire transfer. Company A on the other hand, takes credit cards so they will be able to ship right away. Also, Company A offers a toll-free phone number to call for support while Company B does not. A 20- or 30-minute phone call to either of the companies widens the gap even more.

So you can see the process you must go through to review a wholesale company. It isn't too difficult to do and many people find a wholesale supplier that they can work with rather easily.
